We have a show coming up this saturday at Kings with Americans in France and Burma. We just did a show last week over in Chapel Hill with Am n Fr and they were super rad. This is the release party for their new album. I haven't seen Burma yet but their tracks are aggro and they'll rip the begining of the evening to shreds I imagine. This poster was done by super talented local artist Nick Troutman.

We're playing the 4/21 Local Band Local Beer at Tir Na Nog with The Rosebuds and DJ SPCLGST. This is the launch party for the 2011 Hopscotch festival and the evening will kick off with a fashion show from Revolver Consignment.

This month's episode of Neill Prewitt's Yuxtapongo, a monthly exhibiton of local experimental video art, will feature a series of videos made for tracks from the new Heads on Sticks album, Mocking Bird (out 8/31). The show will air on RTN cable channel 10 tonight at 11:30 and features videos by Neill, Nick Speaks, Miles Holst and Hobert Thompson. The episode will air throughout the month on Thursdays at 1130 and Sundays at 10. It also airs on The Peoples Channel in Chapel Hill and Pitsboro Thursdays at 3;30 and in Durham on channel 18 Wednesdays at 7. It will be posted on the Yuxtapongo website in October. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportuntiy to collaborate with these talented artists on this project. I'll post the videos here as well once I have a copy.

The release date for the new LP (ha) is drawing ever closer. Just a few weeks left. More exciting developments.... I'm working on a video collaboration for the album with several Raleigh video artists in conjunction with Neill Prewitt's Yuxtapongo program. (follow that jump, do it). All I can say at this point is that there will be fire. Not like fiya (though maybe so) but I mean actual FIRE as in things will burn and fly through the air. More on that later though. For now here's a track from the album, this one's been out there for a month or so- it originally debuted on New Raleigh a while back.

I've finally finished tracking and mixing. All production was done at Masterpiece Theatre with additional mixing by Greg Elkins at Desolation Row studios here in Raleigh. This is the third or fourth project I've done with Greg. I really enjoy working at desolation row and have learned a lot from his approach to mixing. He's never been one of these engineers who comes at you right off telling you what you can't do. He's a good listener and works hard to come up with creative solutions to the problems each individual mix presents, both on it's own and within the context of the whole project.

I'm just now beginning to work on the details of the actual release but at this point I'm hoping for late summer. More info on that as it becomes available. In the meantime here is a new track which is currently streaming on bandcamp.com where you can also download my two previous EP's- last year's Oak City Version and The Pamphleteer, from 2007 for free. You can hear this track and one other on the Heads on Sticks facebook page.

A new version of my 2007 EP- The Pamphleteer, is now available for free digital download at bandcamp.com. I've switched out a few of the original tracks (the ones that, honestly, haven't aged so well) and replaced them with two tracks from the earlier Marsaupials EP and two previously unreleased tracks recorded at Masterpiece Theatre sometime in 2008-9. Just wanted to put this stuff out there in advance of the new material that I'll have availble soon. Free download here

These four instrumentals were originally assembled for the Raleigh City Museum show "Abstractations" in the fall of '09. The show featured works by local artists inspired by the city of Raleigh. There was originally a limited run of CDR's for sale at the museum. After getting a number of inquiries about the EP, I decided to post it here for free download for anyone interested.

All performance and recording was done by me on Tascam 2488. Additional mixing/ mastering at Desolation Row studios in Raleigh by Greg Elkins, December 09. Special thanks to Ladye Jane Vickers for curating the original show and designing an excellent space within the exhibition for these tracks.
